The traditional solids control system is generally composed of solids control equipment such as shale shaker, mud cleaner, centrifuge, and shale shaker, as the first-level solids control equipment, generally composed of 2 or more single-deck shale shakers. The application of double-deck and triple-deck shale shakers is not simply adding a few more decks of screens, but fundamentally improving and upgrading the drilling mud solids control technology.

Compared with the traditional single-deck shale shaker, the multi-deck shale shaker has the characteristics of larger volume, greater excitation force, more screens, larger screen area, and larger processing capacity. These characteristics are reflected in the processing results. The accuracy of the multi-deck shale shaker after treatment can reach the level of an all-in-one machine. In other words, the multi-deck shale shaker can replace the first-stage solids control shale shaker and the second-stage sand removal integrated machine in the traditional mud solids control system under certain circumstances.

First, the drilling mud solids control technology has been upgraded. The use of multi-deck shale shakers means that the entire drilling rig solids control system must be fully optimized and redesigned, and the traditional drilling solids control system layout and equipment arrangement must be changed. For example, the use of multi-deck shale shakers eliminates the traditional shale shakers and the volume and scale of the solids control system will become smaller, and the system will be redesigned and optimized together.

Second, it reduces equipment investment and save equipment costs. Without equipment, energy consumption is reduced, and energy saving is realized. Traditional solids control system desilting and de-sanding integrated sand pumps each have a power of 55KW/75KW, and two normally work. It consumes 110 kWh per hour, 2200 kWh per day, 66,000 kWh per month, and annual power consumption. 132000 kWh; and the power of the shale shaker of the desilting and sand removal integrated machine is 3.88KW, which consumes 3.88 kWh per hour, 77.6 kWh per day, 2328 kWh per month, and 4556 kWh per year. If a multi-deck shale shaker is used, approximately 136,656 kilowatt-hours of electricity can be saved each year, which is equivalent to saving 21.45 tons of diesel and reducing 66.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Therefore, the cost of multi-deck shale shakers is much lower than the cost of using traditional single-deck screens and multiple screens. In the future, with the improvement of drilling technology, the use value of double-deck and triple-deck shale shakers will be recognized by the industry and be widely used and popularized.
